This really fine gentleman’s whip has a shaft which measures 22 inches and an antler handle of 5 1/2 inches. There are 2 silver collars on the whip, hallmarked to London, 1909. On the top collar is engraved “D Maher from J. A. D.” and on the lower ferrule is the word “Kroonstad”. The shaft between the two collars is covered in a fine smooth leather, whilst below the second collar is its covered in nicely platted leather. The closed keeper and stitching appear original and are in fine condition. There was a notable jockey called Daniel Maher who topped the American jockey’s table in the late 1800’s. He then moved to England and won multiple classics becoming Champion Jockey in 1908 and 1913. The crop is in excellent condition and all stitching is strong and intact. We have added a new English Beaufort 1 ½ yard thong and lash.

A Brigg hunt whip with a silver metal collar, hallmarked to 1924. The shaft is has a solid whale bone core, surrounded in split whale bone and flexes like a good fly rod. It measures 22" and has the most beautiful, fine, straight platted leather covering. The notched antler horn handle measures 5". Our Master Saddlers have replaced the original keeper with a fine, hand stitched, closed keeper and whipped it to the shaft using antique waxed cotton thread. Over all the whip is in first class condition. We have added a new, English, Beaufort yard and a half thong and lash.

A Swaine whip, date unknown, but probably from 1960s. It has a white metal collar and the shaft is covered in platted leather and measures 18". It has a closed keeper, beautifully whipped in wax thread, and a new English made 1 ½ yard thong and lash. It’s a good gentleman’s hunt whip in fabulous condition and ready to use.
